Curriculum Integration: Art and Nature

Lesson Objectives:  Working with different art materials and media.
 
 

Materials Required:  Rocks, red and black paint, spray to preserve paint, construction paper and markers to make card.
 
 
 

Lesson Outline: 1. Children select a rock.

                           2. Wash and dry rocks.

                           3. Become scientists and discover how rock lies best.

                           4. Paint rock red.

                           5. While drying, decorate Mother's Day card.

                           6. Once card is decorated and red paint is dry add black features of ladybug.

                           7. Let dry.

                           8. Apply spray to preserve.

                           9. Give Mom a lifelong garden gift she'll treasure!
 
 
 

Extension Activities:  Read The Grouchy Ladybug  by Eric Carle, talk about the life cycle of the ladybug or characteristics of arthropods.
