Arbor Day (Grade 5)

The Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park (LEAF) proudly presents the annual Arbor Day Celebration event, featuring identical morning and afternoon education sessions for hundreds of students from participating schools in the Erie area.

Each session includes hands-on learning stations led by local presenters and activities such as tree identification, parts of a tree, trees and insects, and more. Groups of students attend three half-hour learning stations followed by an all-student tree planting ceremony to conclude each session.

The event draws awareness in the community about the role and importance of trees in the environment. It also brings attention to the more than 250 varieties of trees at the Arboretum at Frontier Park. Trees are not only beautiful to look at, they play a vital role in helping to heal damage done to the environment, as well as prevent runoff and erosion, create habitat for birds and wildlife, and a multitude of other benefits people often take for granted. This event educates students about the immense value of trees in our everyday lives.
