All 2013 programs have been completed for the year. Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming 2014 programs. Our next big event will be the 2014 Winterfest in February.
LEAF Festival: We couldn't have done it without YOUR support! LEAF would like to thank everyone who was a sponsor, vendor, volunteer and/or participant in the 2013 LEAF Festival! We really appreciate your continued support of our mission to generate a greater awareness of the importance of trees in our lives by creating and expanding the Arboretum at Frontier Park and providing recreational and educational programs for the community.
This year LEAF sponosored a "Why I Love Trees" Poster Contest for students in grades K-5. The posters had to be submitted by the student using pencil, crayon, markers, pastels, or paint on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. Posters were evaluated by a panel of three judges on creativity and strength of the message of environmental stewardship. LEAF was pleased to receive entries from several classes of students from various local schools. It was a tough call to decide two winning entries. There were a lot of wonderful submissions! Below are the posters created by our winners. Congratulations to you for all of your hard work and creative posters!
K-2nd Grade Winner: Carmen Wiley
3rd-5th Grade Winner: Rachel Maggio ArborEAT'em: THANK YOU SO MUCH!
We want to extend a huge thank you to the Erie community for the support of our major fundraiser, ArborEAT'em: A Party in the Park. Our second annual gala was another great success with beautiful weather, delicious food, fun entertainment and amazing fireworks. We want to send out a special thanks to the artists that participated in the LEAF Art Show as part of the event. It was a wonderful addition and a perfect match-- art and nature. Huge thanks to our food and drink vendors: We couldn't have done it without you!
Proceeds from ArborEAT'em will allow us to continue to expand our educational programming and to further enhance the amenities at LEAF.
We are already planning for next year. Please mark your calendars for August 23, 2014. We hope to see even more of you next year!
